
Excalibur Quartet
is a perennial Top 10 Finalist at SPEBSQSA International Quartet
Competitions. The quartet has entertained audiences from all across the US and
Canada and is one of the most sought-after show quartets on the barbershop
circuit today. Meet the members of the quartet:
John Moksnes - Tenor
John “Moxy” Moksnes comes from a long heritage of barbershop harmony. Moxy's dad
sang baritone in a great quartet, the Hut Four. The barbershop bug got into
Moxy's blood at a very young age. Moxy won the state championship with
“Grandstand” in 1987. In 1992 he was a charter member of Excalibur. For the past
16 years he has been a Sales Executive for a large HMO in Minneapolis marketing
health plan benefits to large employers. He and his family reside in Hudson,
Wisconsin. Moxy and wife Barbara are kept very busy with their three boys:
Bobby, 8; Justin, 6; and Matthew, 5.
Greg Dolphin – Lead
Lead Greg Dolphin lives in Minneapolis and is the CEO of Dolphin Holdings. Greg
has had a passion for music all his life, singing both tenor in several quartets
before becoming the lead of Excalibur. He has a remarkable and distinctive solo
voice. His bright, clarion tone gives the quartet a thrilling sound. Greg is
still enjoying being a newlywed with wife, Joanie.
Brent Graham – Baritone
Brent majored in math/music” and music in college and has been active in
barbershop since 1978. He is an excellent and prolific arranger of barbershop
and show music. Brent also serves as a Music judge for SPEBSQSA contests,
barbershop coach, and is the current chorus director for City of Lakes Chapter,
SAI. Brent joined Excalibur as baritone in 1998 and helped the quartet earn a
6th place finish. Brent, his wife Barb, and son Scott, reside in Minneapolis,
MN.
Jay Giallombardo - Bass
Jay has been around the block in Barbershop circles since 1968 where, as a
teenager, he won the Illinois State Championship with Grandma’s Boys. That same
quartet went on to win the International Gold Medal in 1979 (the same year that
Moxie joined the Barbershop Society)! Jay is an arranger, coach, Music judge and
also directs the International Gold Medal Chorus Champions of 2001, the New
Tradition Chorus. Jay, wife Helen, and children, Barbara, Joey, and Anna, reside
in Glenview, IL.
